This Week in District 104

In addition to Session, this week I also had the opportunity to travel around the district and meet with different local officials, first responders, individuals, and businesses.

MLK DAY CELEBRATION

On Monday, I attended the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration that took place at St. James United Methodist Church in Danville. There, I presented Mary Thompson a certificate to congratulate her on her retirement from the MLK Celebration Committee after a dedicated 30 years of service.

At the celebration, the MLK Celebration Committee presented the 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship to recipient, Davari Boyd.

A big thank you for the invite to the celebration and congratulations to Mary and Davari as they both embark on their next chapters!

THE VILLAGE OF RANTOUL MEETING

Late last week I met with the Village of Rantoul and met with the Mayor, Charles Smith, and the Board of Trustees. It was a good opportunity to meet the local officials of one of the villages in the district.

Thank you to Mayor Smith and Trustees for meeting with me to discuss the Village of Rantoul.

RANTOUL FIRE STATION, MAPLEWOOD DRIVE TOUR

After meeting with the Rantoul public officials, I then was invited to the Rantoul Fire Station on Maplewood Drive for a tour by Fire Chief Chad Smith.

Thank you to Chad, and all Rantoul Firefighters for giving me a tour of the station and continuing to keep our community safe.

RANTOUL FAMILY SPORTS COMPLEX TOUR

My last stop in Rantoul was at the Rantoul Family Sports Complex. Here, Ryan Reid gave me an interactive tour of the facility and talked about the type of events, tourism, and planning that goes into keeping the facility afloat.

Thank you, Ryan for showing me around the complex!

BLUSKY RESTORATION RIBBON CUTTING

In Champaign, the Chamber of Commerce invited me to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for BluSky Restoration Contractors. The company focuses on both residential and commercial restoration projects.

Thank you to the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce for the invite, and best of luck to BluSky Restoration!

HARVEST SOLAR EVENT

To end the day in the district, I attended an event put on by Harvest Solar in Champaign. The event was a good opportunity to know more about solar energy.

Thank you to Harvest Solar for the invitation and the information about solar energy!
