I am deeply troubled by the multiple shootings our community has experienced over the past several days.
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted. No family should have to go through something like this.
This cannot become the norm. The people of our community deserve to feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods.
I am grateful for our police officers and first responders who are working around the clock to protect our community. They have my full support.
They are also going to need the full support of the community because those who commit these acts of violence or hide those that do, must be held accountable.
But lasting change takes more than enforcement alone. It takes all of us, working together toward a safer future for our community.
I will be speaking directly with our Chief of Police and community leaders to ensure law enforcement has the support and resources they need, while also identifying additional steps to confront this violence and prevent it from continuing.
