Schweizer Launches America 250 Essay Contest, Invites 6-12th Grade Students to Participate

DANVILLE, IL… State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) is launching an America 250 Essay Contest for students entering grades 6-12 this summer.

The contestants will choose one of four categories and those include:

  • The Future I Want to Help Build: Imagine the next 250 years…
  • My Community’s Story: How has your community contributed to the American story?
  • Many Stories, One Illinois: Share how different cultures, families, traditions, or experiences come together to shape Illinois and America.
  • I am Part of the American Story: What does it mean to you to be a part of America’s story?

Students in 6-8 grades may submit a 200-word essay and students in 9-12 may submit a 500-word essay. All entries must be typed in 12pt font and double spaced.

There will be five total winners of the contest, one overall winner and a winner for each of the four categories. The overall winner will be awarded a signed certificate from Rep. Schweizer, a U.S. flag flown over the Illinois Capitol, and recognition in a media release and on social media. The category winners will receive a certificate and a U.S. flag.
