DANVILLE, IL… State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) has launched a new initiative, “Brandun on the Job,” beginning with a visit to the Danville Fire Department, where he spent time working alongside firefighters, helping to wash fire trucks, cleaning the station, and learning more about the challenges they face serving the community.
The initiative will take Rep. Schweizer to workplaces throughout the 104th District, where he will spend time with employees, employers, and public servants to better understand their work, the challenges they face, and how state government can better support them.
“In the last few years, east central Illinois has seen businesses close, relocate, or reduce their workforce,” said Rep. Schweizer. “Those losses affect families, our local economy, and the future of our communities. If we’re going to create an environment where businesses can grow and people want to build their future here, I can’t just wait for people to come to Springfield. I need to go to the people doing the work every day, hear directly from them, and bring what I learn back to the Capitol.”
Schweizer said the goal of the initiative is simple: spend time on the job, listen, learn, and bring those experiences back to Springfield.
“The best ideas don’t always come from the Capitol, they come from the people on the front lines doing the work every day,” Schweizer said. “Every visit gives me a better understanding of what’s working, what’s not, and where state government can do a better job of getting out of the way or providing the right support. I appreciate the Danville Fire Department for welcoming me and sharing their experience.”
Rep. Schweizer plans to continue visiting businesses, manufacturers, farms, schools, healthcare providers, first responders, nonprofits, and other employers across the district throughout the year.
