THIRD BILL READING DEADLINE, HB 4972, LIBERTY ELEMENTARY & MORE
The week of April 15th marked House Bill Third Reading Deadline week. We were in our districts this past week. The House is set to reconvene on April 30th.
SESSION
The House of Representatives adjourned Friday, until Tuesday, April 30th.
To watch the House Floor live, visit the Illinois General Assembly website, and click “Audio/Video”, which is nested under “House”. The schedule for Session is also available under “Schedules”, nested under “House”.
In the House we went through House Bills Third Reading Deadline, the week of April 15th. This meant that all bills that were set to head to the Senate must have been read and voted on, on the House Floor. Bills must be read into the record three times.
Session is scheduled next Tuesday through Friday, as we tackle Senate Bills and get them through committees.
HB 4972
One of the bills heard last week was my bill, HB 4972. This bill seeks to hold the Department of Central Management Services accountable for posting changes being made to TRS enrollees’ benefits 60 days before the changes are set to take effect.
The bill passed the House unanimously, 106-0.
POLICY AND RESEARCH LEGISLATIVE FELLOWS PROGRAM (PRLF) CEREMONY
The PRLF Program is a program offered through UIUC where a fellow, who is attending graduate school at the University, works with a government office to work toward legislation that is needed in the district. This past year, our office had Tessa, a doctoral student focusing on EV Stations and Component manufacturing within the district. On Monday, she and the other fellows from the program were able to present their findings.
Thank you, Tessa for all the work you have done in the district! Best of luck as you work towards getting your PhD!
Laura and Leela- welcome aboard!
