Schweizer Reacts to State of the State and Budget Address

SPRINGFIELD, IL… State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) issued the following statement after Governor JB Pritzker delivered his annual State of the State and Budget Address to the Illinois General Assembly in a joint session of state legislators. The Governor’s proposed budget for FY26 is $55.235 billion, a nearly $2 billion increase from last year’s enacted budget.

“Governor Pritzker introduced the largest budget in Illinois’ history, totaling $55.235 billion, a nearly $2 billion increase from the Fiscal Year 2025 budget,” said Rep. Schweizer. “The state is faced with a $425 million deficit for Fiscal Year 2026 and yet again, the Governor is asking taxpayers to foot the bill so that he can cater to his core constituencies.”
